Thank you for becoming the newest partner of Local First Utah! Our goal is to strengthen locally owned, independent Utah businesses through public education in communities throughout the state. By supporting locally owned, independent businesses we not only strengthen local economies, but at the same time preserve and foster the cities and neighborhoods which make Utah such a unique and interesting place to live.
Local First Utah needs your Support to Succeed!
Here’s how:
Brand Your Business as a Local First Business
Building a brand for locally owned, independent businesses is crucial to our success. The cornerstone of our branding effort is the window cling included in this packet. You can also download the Local First logo from our website and include it ANYWHERE your customers can see it. Try including it on your website, posters, sales receipts, etc.
Engage in the Movement
With more than 2,500 partners, it can be a challenge to communicate with each partner individually. Please make sure that you are:
- Staying informed through our e-newsletter
- Actively updating your information on your business profile
- Checking the website, www.localfirst.org, to find out about upcoming events
- Participating in periodic public education events and promotional campaigns that are identified in our newsletter and on our website.
Donate
The financial support we receive from our registered Local First Partners has been a critical component to our growth over the last few years. Since we do not charge our partners and we are a nonprofit organization, fundraising supports our operations and all the work we do across Utah. By making a gift, while it is not a requirement, you and your business allow us to fulfill our mission of strengthening communities and local economies by promoting, preserving, and protecting local, independently owned businesses throughout Utah. Local First Utah is 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, which means your donations are tax deductible. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation please contact us or use the “Donate Now” link on our website. Any amount is valued and appreciated.
Business Directory Distribution
Distribution of the Local First Business Directories is vital to our message and growth. For more information on where to pick-up directories for your business please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . While the current hardcopy directory is for 2009-2010, and your business may not be listed within, we believe that the distribution of the directory is a vital element to the continuing education of the public about why buying locally is so important, and where local businesses are located. Your business is, however, currently listed on our online directory, and by sending your customers to the Local First Utah website you are creating an online word of mouth, essential to Local First Utah’s growth.
Become Part of our Social Network!
Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to participate in online ‘Buy Local’ conversations and community dialog. These social networks are the quickest way to inform every one of your businesses upcoming sales and events, as well as Local First Utah’s community outreach and initiatives.
Support
One of the best ways to promote Local First Utah is to support your Local First partners! Make informed local choices when you can—from office supplies to business lunches to phone services, Local First Utah partners are always the best choice!
Thanks again for becoming a partner! We are excited about the great success and continued potential of Local First Utah and we know you share our enthusiasm and commitment to moving forward. If you have any ideas, questions, or suggestions on how we can continue to improve, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Joelle Kanshepolsky
Executive Director
