The son of Italian immigrants, Joe Granato started in the produce industry with Pacific Fruit after serving in the Army in Europe during World War II. In 1964, at age 44, Joe went into business for himself. He rose early each morning to inspect quality fruits and vegetables before delivering it to his customers. Joe was known throughout the community as a fair business man who took pride in the produce he provided his customers. Business grew quickly so Joe leased a 10,000 square foot warehouse in the 1970’s. During this time Joe’s sons and daughters became involved in running the business inside and out. Marty Granato developed relationships with growers in major areas including California and Arizona to bring in the best quality produce. Tracy began working for her father at a young age to keep all the bookkeeping straight. Once again Joe Granato, Inc.’s reputation grew and so did their business. It was time to design and build yet another, much larger warehouse. In 1999 a new 23,000 square foot facility was built to house the company and move it to the next level. The new building features state of the art coolers and truck unloading facilities.
