Founded in 1896, Volunteers of America is a national non-profit organization providing local human service programs and opportunities for individual and community involvement. We provide services organized to reach and uplift those in greatest need and to provide opportunities to experience the joy of serving others. The agency operates nine programs around Utah, and serves over 4,000 individuals each year. Our goal is to provide a continuum of services for individuals in need, to foster self-sufficiency, and to provide opportunities for volunteer involvement. Our clients are mainly homeless and low-income. We provide the most affordable housing in the nation, and our services range from detox, literacy, medical, youth, etc. Although Volunteers of America is a national organization, its local affiliate qualifies as a Local First Utah member because it's fundraising and operations are independent from other chapters.
