Granite Environmental, Inc. (Granite), was originally incorporated in 1985 as SITEX Consultants West, a subsidiary of a larger consulting firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1987 the name was changed to SITEX Environmental, Inc., to conform with corporate realignment. In 1998, Jack Elder, a principal of SITEX Environmental, Inc., purchased the Salt Lake office and reformed the company as Granite Environmental, Inc., a Utah corporation. Granite is a licenced Utah General Contractor, as such, we manage all of our own earthmoving and construction on our remediation projects. This not only adds materially to our bottom line, but also provides obvious benefits to our clients in terms of continuity, control and responsiveness. Granite has completed approximately 3,000 projects. At least one-half of these were Phase I environmental site assessments or Transaction Screen environmental assessments. This is undoubtedly what we are best known for. Since 1998 Granite has completed assignments for over 400 clients. The following is a summary of the types of projects which Granite is qualified to undertake: • Phase I environmental site assessments • Phase II environmental site assessments • Underground storage tank assessment and compliance • Lead removal from small arms firing ranges • Solid waste landfill design, compliance and closure • Wetlands delineation, mitigation and construction • Asbestos and other toxic building materials investigation • Drinking water system vulnerability assessments and emergency response plans • Drinking water source protection studies • Health and safety training • NEPA studies • Forensic science
