Nan Seymour arrived at Local First Utah in March of 2012 with 17 years of small business experience as a local bakery owner. Her passion for building community grew while serving up free slices of warm bread to her Holladay neighbors from behind the breadboard at Great Harvest Bread Company. A lover of all things local, Nan has been a dedicated fan of Local First Utah from our debut in 2005. She recently returned to the University of Utah, where she enjoyed studying poetry and received a BA in English. She loves living in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City with her teenage son and rescued mutt, where she can easily walk to a variety of local shops and restaurants.

Kristen Lavelett joined Local First Utah in July 2010. Kristen has lived in Salt Lake City for eight years, and desired to become a part of the Local First movement when she had the realization that all of the places she loved to eat, drink and shop at in the city were ornamented by the "Buy Local First" window cling. Currently studying political science, Kristen hopes to continue working in the non-profit realm upon graduation from the University of Utah. Kristen leads a small group at The Rock Church, loves to cook, travel and go to concerts.
About Local First Utah
Local First Utah is a non-profit 501(c) 3 tax-exempt corporation established in 2005 to educate the public about the importance of local and independent businesses throughout the State of Utah. Local, independent businesses are critically important to both the economic strength of the regional economy and to the character and quality of life that it reflects. Currently, over 2100 Utah businesses are registered as partners with Local First throughout the state. Through periodic promotions, public seminars and awareness campaigns, Local First hopes to encourage consumers to value the wide range of benefits and contributions local businesses provide our community. Local First further seeks to build and strengthen networks among its partners through improved communication and promotions and to serve as a significant force in shaping public policy through education initiatives and research.
